Stand Up For Rockland's Children, a benefit for the Child Care Tuition Scholarship Fund
The Child Care Tuition Scholarship Fund, supported in part by the United Way of Rockland, was created to help families with low income cover the cost of child care. Providing this assistance is one way we can Stand Up for Rockland's Children and help to open the door to the opportunities they deserve.
The first few years of a child's life are the most critical for learning. By age five, ninety percent of a child's brain has developed, which is why it is so important that every child have access to safe, quality child care. These early years set the stage for positive school outcomes, social stability, and workforce readiness.
Access to affordable, high-quality child care allows parents to go to work or further their education with peace of mind, which in turn improves the overall quality of life for their families. We've seen our tuition scholarship programs help to provide these significant outcomes and are committed to assisting more families that are struggling.
Our first, annual Stand Up for Rockland's Children fundraiser was held on September 25, 2019. We were delighted to award the first Jane Brown* award to Fred and Vickie Frelow, lifelong early childhood education advocates, whose most recent endeavor is the formation of Frelow and Associates: Creating Change in Education Through Policy.
