Today is my wedding anniversary. Twenty-three years married, 8400 days of adventures together; births, deaths, happy days, frustrating days, and everything in between. While contemplating this milestone this morning, I thought of my upcoming one-year anniversary as Executive Director – all that we've accomplished and what we have yet to accomplish.
In the last (almost) 365 days at CCRR, we’ve experienced the same highs and lows, good days, frustrating days as any other family. We continue to focus on providing professional development to child care programs; to provide support, information, and guidance to parents, caregivers, businesses, and colleagues; to cultivate partnerships and relationships; to learn, share and grow. I have to say that every day I am so impressed with the knowledge, professionalism, and caring exuded by the Board and staff at CCRR, by Rockland’s child care providers, by our partners in government, by my resource and referral colleagues, and by the supporters of our mission.
Mine are not the only anniversaries celebrated recently. Kids Kingdom in Nanuet celebrated its 25th anniversary as an early childhood education program - a quarter century spent investing in children, their education, and their families. Angels Touch Day Care recently let us know they’re about to celebrate their one-year anniversary. Owning and operating a licensed child care program has its challenges and its rewards. We celebrate and applaud all of our centers, family/group family programs, and after school programs. If you have an anniversary you’d like to share, let us know!
Several Rockland nonprofits are celebrating noteworthy anniversaries as well: Center for Safety and Change (40!); United Way of Rockland (55!); and the National Council of Jewish Women – Rockland Section (70!). In a few years, CCRR will mark its golden anniversary – 50 years of service, 50 years of history. We’re already starting to gather historic photos and stories about the lives we’ve impacted, the success we’ve achieved. Stay tuned.
